Five Reasons to have your wedding in Liverpool

As an experienced Liverpool wedding photographer, I’m lucky enough to get to work in this fantastic city all year round. Nobody can deny that Liverpool stands out as a UK city. It has a character and personality of its own. This historically and architecturally rich city (with double the number of cathedrals that most cities boast) is steeped in maritime history and is world-renowned for its football clubs and its arts and music.

So, if you’re looking for an iconic wedding location with history, culture, arts, music, food, drink and a big warm welcome, then you should definitely consider having your wedding in Liverpool. Still, need convincing?

OK, here are my top five reasons to have your wedding in Liverpool (I struggled to keep it to just five!)

1. You should have your wedding in Liverpool because of its iconic landmarks and locations

When you first visit Liverpool, it feels familiar and that is because Liverpool has always been a popular location for film and television so is awash with iconic locations giving you choices for your wedding that you simply can’t find anywhere else. There are monuments to this day of its most famous inhabitants from history. When I capture wedding photography in Liverpool, I love taking my couples for a little stroll to get some gorgeous portrait images of them in front of Liverpool’s most famous landmarks.

2. You should choose a Liverpool wedding because it has so many cultural wedding locations

Naming Liverpool, the European city of culture in 2008, seemed a surprise to everybody except Liverpudlians. We’ve always known that Liverpool has more museums and galleries than any other outside of London. And many of them make unique and stunning venues for weddings. So, if you’ve dreamed of getting married in an iconic theatre, a stunning library, a stately museum or at a modern art gallery, a wedding in Liverpool would be ideal for you.

3. You should have your wedding in Liverpool because of its unique history

Liverpool is home to over 2,500 listed buildings and Liverpool’s docks are of such historical worldwide significance that they have been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The docks stand proudly to this day and are one of the most visited places in the UK. With history, beauty, art, culture, great architecture and exceptional food and drink on offer all at this iconic location, it’s not hard to see why. So, it won’t surprise you to learn that The Liverpool Docks area has many fantastic wedding venues to suit every style of wedding.

4. You should choose a Liverpool wedding because of its accessibility

I know that doesn’t sound romantic but listen. Liverpool is a vibrant city, with something for everybody. Of all ages, all backgrounds, all of the time. It has excellent rail and transport links and airports. Accommodation to suit every style and budget. You will be giving your guests so much choice and the opportunity to stay on and make a mini-break out of your wedding. Most importantly, Liverpool has so many wedding venues that it comes to delivering you the wedding of your dreams - if you can imagine it. Liverpool can deliver it.

5. You should have your wedding in Liverpool because you’ll get a big Liverpudlian welcome

Liverpool recently came first in a survey of the friendliest cities in England. This doesn’t surprise me as Liverpool has an energy and vibe about it quite like anywhere else. People here smile and chat with each other. Liverpudlians are rightly proud of their city and keen to showcase it to its many visitors. It says something that many of Liverpool’s students choose to stay on years after their studies have finished.

So, where better to get married than in the friendliest city in England and where you’ll receive a warm Liverpudlian welcome.
